This Privacy Policy explains how Loam Goat Inc. ("Loam Goat", "we", "us") collects, uses and shares personal information when you visit loamgoat.com, buy from us, or contact us. Loam Goat is based in British Columbia, Canada.

Privacy contact

Our Privacy Officer is responsible for protecting personal information at Loam Goat, including under Quebec's privacy law. For any privacy question, request or complaint, email help@loamgoat.com and put "Privacy" in the subject line.

What we collect

Information you give us

• Orders: your name, email address, phone number, billing and shipping addresses, and what you bought. Payments are processed by Shopify Payments or PayPal. We never see or store your full card number.
• Messages: anything you send us by email, chat or contact form, such as questions about fitment.
• Email and text sign-ups: your email address or mobile number, and your consent to hear from us.
• Reviews and surveys: reviews you write, and your answer if you fill in our optional "how did you hear about us" question after checkout.

Information collected automatically

• Device and browsing information: your IP address, browser and device type, approximate location based on your IP address, pages and products you view, searches on our site, and the website or ad that sent you to us.
• Cookies and similar technologies: small files and browser storage that remember your cart and preferences and measure how our site and ads perform. See "Cookies" below.
• Ad click identifiers: when you arrive by clicking one of our ads, the link includes a code that identifies that click (for example Meta's fbclid or Google's gclid).
• Session recordings: we use Microsoft Clarity to see how visitors click, scroll and move through our pages, so we can find confusing or broken parts of the site.

How we use it

• To process and ship your order, send order and shipping updates, and handle returns under our 60-Day Guarantee.
• To answer your questions and help you find pads that fit your brakes.
• To prevent fraud and keep our store secure.
• To send marketing emails or texts, only if you have agreed to receive them. Every message includes a way to unsubscribe.
• To understand how our site is used and improve it.
• To show ads for our products, measure which ads work, and avoid showing ads to people they are not relevant to.

Advertising and measurement

Meta (Facebook and Instagram)

We use the Meta Pixel and Meta's Conversions API through Shopify's Facebook and Instagram channel. When you browse our site, start a checkout or buy something, we send Meta information about that activity: the pages and products you viewed, what you added to your cart or bought, and the order value. We also send your IP address, browser details and Meta's cookie identifiers (_fbp, _fbc).

For checkouts and purchases, we also send your email address, phone number, name, city, province or state, postal code and country. This contact information is hashed (turned into a coded string) before it is sent. Meta uses it to match the activity to a Facebook or Instagram account, measure how our ads perform, and decide who sees our ads. Meta may also use this information as described in Meta's Privacy Policy.

Saved ad clicks. When you arrive from one of our Meta ads, Meta stores the click identifier in the _fbc cookie. Some browsers delete that cookie after a short time. So that a later purchase can still be linked to the ad you clicked, we save a copy of the click identifier with your shopping cart. It is attached to your order if you check out, and we may put the cookie back if your browser removed it. We only do this when your privacy settings allow marketing. If you opt out, we stop and remove the saved copy from your cart.

Google

We use Google Analytics, Google Ads conversion tracking and Google Merchant Center to measure visits, shopping behaviour and the results of our Google ads. Google sets cookies such as _ga and _gcl_au. Read more in Google's Privacy Policy.

Customer lists

We may share hashed customer contact details (such as email address, phone number, name and country) with Meta and Google. This lets us exclude existing customers from ads meant for new riders, or show relevant ads to past customers. Meta and Google match the hashed details against their own users and do not give us any information about who matched.

Your advertising choices

• Cookie banner: where the law requires consent (for example Quebec, the European Union and the United Kingdom), we show a cookie banner. Your choice applies to Meta's tools connected through Shopify and to the saved ad clicks described above.
• Ask us: email help@loamgoat.com to ask us to stop using your information for advertising, including removing you from customer lists we share with Meta and Google. This covers information sent from our servers when you buy, which browser settings cannot block.
• Meta: manage your ad preferences at facebook.com/adpreferences.
• Google: manage ads at myadcenter.google.com, or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
• Industry opt-outs: YourAdChoices (Canada) and the Digital Advertising Alliance (United States).
• Your privacy choices page: use our Your privacy choices page to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising. This is the route required by several US state privacy laws.
• Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, Shopify applies it as an opt-out of data sale or sharing and targeted advertising.
• Browser settings: you can block or delete cookies, although parts of the site, such as the cart, may stop working.

Who we share information with

We do not sell or rent your personal information for money. We share it only with service providers that help us run the store, and only what they need:

• Shopify: hosts our store, checkout and customer chat, and processes payments through Shopify Payments. Shopify's Privacy Policy.
• PayPal: if you choose to pay with PayPal.
• Shipping carriers such as Chit Chats and Canada Post, and customs authorities for international orders: your name, shipping address and order contents.
• Meta and Google: for advertising and measurement, as described above.
• Microsoft Clarity: session recordings and site analytics. Microsoft's Privacy Statement.
• Klaviyo: sends our marketing and order-related emails and texts. For people on our email list, Klaviyo also records products viewed on our site so we can send relevant reminders. Klaviyo's Privacy Policy.
• Judge.me: sends review requests and publishes the reviews you choose to write.
• Zigpoll: runs our optional post-purchase survey.
• AfterSell: shows optional add-on offers after checkout.
• UpPromote and GoAffPro: run our referral and ambassador programs, which record when a referral link brings in an order so the referrer can be credited.
• Legal requirements: we may disclose information when required by law, or to protect our rights, our customers or the public.

Where your information is stored

Our service providers store and process information in Canada, the United States and other countries where they operate. Information stored outside Canada, or outside Quebec, is subject to the laws of those places and may be accessible to their authorities.

How long we keep it

• Orders: we keep order records, including any saved ad click attached to an order, for at least six years, as Canadian tax law requires.
• Marketing: we keep your email address or phone number on our lists until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
• Carts: an ad click saved with your cart is removed when the cart expires or is cleared.
• Everything else: only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can:

• ask what personal information we hold about you and how we use it;
• ask us to correct information that is wrong;
• withdraw your consent, for example to marketing emails or advertising use, subject to legal or contractual limits. Withdrawing consent may mean we cannot provide some services;
• ask us to delete your information, except records we must keep by law;
• if you live in a US state that gives you the right, opt out of targeted advertising and of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information as defined by that state's law, using our Your privacy choices page.

To make a request, email help@loamgoat.com. We may need to confirm your identity first. We aim to respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, or, in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information. Residents of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom can contact their local data protection authority.

European Economic Area and United Kingdom visitors

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your information on these legal bases: to perform our contract with you (your order), with your consent (marketing, and advertising and analytics cookies), for our legitimate interests (such as fraud prevention and improving our store), and to meet legal obligations.

Automated decisions

We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects on you. Shopify uses limited automated fraud screening at checkout, for example temporarily blocking IP addresses or cards linked to repeated failed payments.

Besides cookies, we save a copy of a Meta ad click with your shopping cart (under "Saved ad clicks" above), and some services use similar browser storage.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Blocking cookies does not stop information we send from our servers when you place an order. To opt out of that, use the "Ask us" option under "Your advertising choices".

Do Not Track

There is no common standard for responding to "Do Not Track" browser signals, so we do not change our practices when we receive one.

Children

Our store is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email help@loamgoat.com and we will delete it.

Security

We use reputable providers with industry-standard security, limit who can access personal information, and hash contact details before sharing them for advertising. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when our practices change and change the date at the top.
