What brake pads fit Shimano XT M8120?

The XT M8120 takes Shimano's 4-piston pad, sold by Shimano under codes like D02S, D03S, H03A, H03C, N03A and N04C. Those are all the same shape in different compounds. Our 4-piston pads are that same shape, and they fit the whole family:

Sintered, The longest-wearing compound we carry and the one to run if your riding season includes a BC winter. Wet grit destroys softer pads, and sintered shrugs it off. It's also the loudest of the three. Check that your rotors aren't resin-only first, some lightweight Shimano rotors are.

Finned or standard pads?

XT M8120 vs M8100: don't mix them up

This is the most common ordering mistake with XT brakes. The M8120 is the 4-piston caliper and takes the D/N-type pad. The M8100 is the 2-piston caliper and takes the smaller G-type and J-type pad. Do XT M8120 and XTR M9120 use the same pads?

Yes. All current Shimano 4-piston calipers share the D/N-type pad shape, from Deore up to XTR, plus Saint and Zee.

Are Shimano D02S and N04C pads the same shape?

Yes. D-type and N-type are the same 4-piston shape. The letters change with Shimano's compound and backing material, not the fit.

Will these pads fit the new XT BR-M8220?

Yes. The newer XT BR-M8220 and XTR BR-M9220 4-piston calipers take the same D/N-type shape as the M8120 and M9120.

Can I run sintered pads with my Ice Tech rotors?

Check the rotor. Some lightweight Shimano rotors are marked resin-only, and sintered pads will wear them prematurely. Most trail and enduro rotors handle sintered fine.
