My Journey

I started Loam Goat for riders like me—the ones who ride hard, ride often, and sometimes forget to order pads until the night before.

I’ve been there. The crew's heading out this weekend, and I realize my brake pads are shot. I could always go to the shop and grab a pair, but that wouldn’t leave me with beer money after the ride. Or there’s a good deal at the online store, but that’s too slow; it wouldn’t get here in time for the ride. That’s when it hit me: there’s got to be a better option.

So I started Loam Goat—brake pads that are fast, affordable, and actually perform. No inflated prices, no waiting forever, no compromises.

Born from the Shore. Built for everywhere.

I grew up in Vancouver, with the North Shore’s trails practically in my backyard. Riding there taught me a lot—mostly that brakes matter. Back in the early 2000s, we were all experimenting: bigger rotors, different compounds, anything to keep our bikes under control on steep, greasy trails the ‘Shore’ is known for.

That obsession stuck with me. So when I launched Loam Goat in 2020, it was with one goal: to deliver the kind of braking power and precision I wish I’d had as a teenager. Our pads have been tested everywhere from the Kootenays to Squamish and Whistler—and most importantly, by everyday riders who don’t have time (or cash) to waste.

Performance Sweet Spot

Since day one of Loam Goat, I’ve been running the same type of pads. That’s five years straight of abuse and thousands of sets sold. The feedback? Mostly awesome. And when it’s not, I listen—especially to heavy riders with e-bike riders on +1500m descents in the middle of summer who’ve helped me realize where improvements are needed.

I manufacture overseas so I can keep prices low, and I test everything myself—on the Shore, in the park, and on the steepest trails around Squamish. If you email Loam Goat, you’re talking to me. I take feedback seriously, and I use it to keep improving.

Why “Loam Goat”?

“Loam” is the kind of dirt we all dream of as mountain bikers. “Goat” stands for those sure-footed mountain beasts—and yeah, also the Greatest Of All Time. To me, Loam Goat is about having fun, pushing your limits, and doing it with your buddies.

Bikes should be a blast—not a competition to see who can spend the most money. That’s where I come in.

Part of a Herd

I’m proud to support North Shore Rescue’s e-bike program, keeping their fleet running with free pads and brakes. They’re local legends and one of Canada’s busiest search-and-rescue teams. I also support grassroots DH riders who race hard and give great feedback—especially when they break stuff.

Looking ahead, I’m expanding Loam Goat’s lineup in ways that make sense: bleed kits, rotors, adapters, and neat little tools to keep your brakes running perfectly. I even carry Lewis brakes now (yes, the same ones the Intense Factory Racing DH team uses)—known for their power and unreal adjustability at a price that fits our ethos.

If it helps you stop better, I’ll probably carry it.

Ride With Me

Whether you’re chasing loam, grinding out a commute, or bombing challenging descents with a 30-pound pack, I’ve got a pad (or a rotor, or a brake) that’ll work for you.

Affordable. Rider-tested. Steep-approved.

Thanks for being part of the herd.
