Brake Pad Compound Guide
Brake Pad Compound Guide
Trail (Blue)
- Designed for: Riders who want quiet brakes straight away
- Bed-in: Quick, about the same as Gravity
- Durability: Wears fastest of the three
- Noise: Our quietest compound
- Feel: Power ramps up as you pull the lever, with the most modulation of the three
- Heat: Insulates the system, keeping heat in the rotor instead of the caliper and fluid
- Rotors: Works on all rotors
Gravity (Green)
- Designed for: Riders who want longer pad life than Trail and a harder bite in the wet
- Bed-in: About the same as Trail
- Durability: Longer lasting than Trail
- Feel: Power ramps up like Trail, with a harder bite in the wet
- Noise: Quieter than Sintered, not quite as quiet as Trail
- Heat: Insulates the system, keeping heat in the rotor instead of the caliper and fluid
- Rotors: Works on all rotors
Sintered (Gold)
- Designed for: Wet and gritty conditions, and year round mileage
- Bed-in: The longest of the three
- Durability: Our longest lasting compound, at the expense of rotor wear
- Noise: The loudest of the three
- Feel: Linear power, consistent through the whole lever stroke
- Heat: Conducts heat into the caliper and fluid, which can soften the lever on long descents
- Note: Please check your rotors are not resin-only rotors. If you need rotors compatible with metallic/sintered pads, click here.
What's in Them
What's in Them
Trail: Kevlar, ceramic, copper and alloy fibres with graphite, in a resin bond. Quietest of the three and quick to bed in. Works on all rotors.
Gravity: The same ingredients as Trail, with more metal fibre. More bite in the wet and longer life than Trail. Works on all rotors.
Sintered: Copper, ceramic, graphite and metal fibre, with no resin. Longest life, best in wet and grit. Not for resin-only rotors. Brake in bursts rather than dragging.
Trail and Gravity carry more Kevlar than a standard organic pad, so they build less heat on long descents and insulate the system.
Who makes them: Loam Goat pads are made in Taiwan. The exact formulas are trade secrets, same as every pad brand.
Not sure you picked the right one? You have 60 days to ride them, then get a refund or swap to a different compound.

great pad. great price
The service was fantastic! I initially thought I had purchased the wrong pads, so I emailed Ian to double-check. Not only did he respond within half an hour, but I felt bad he did so quickly, considering it was 9:30 p.m. on a stat holiday when I sent my message. Ian even offered some helpful tips on installing the pads, and they’ve been working great. I’m incredibly happy with my purchase and want to thank Ian again for his excellent service.

Happy to hear you appreciated the help. Having our bikes ready to go for a ride is important to us!
Cheers,

I have bought 3 pairs so far. Nice and quiet and they seat in very quickly. No issues whatsoever. I will definitely keep buying them and would recommend them to others.
Great pads, great price, awesome service, no brainer!
I put the Loam Goat pads on my SRAM G2 brakes and the difference was immediately noticeable. Great bite, strong stopping power, and excellent control. They feel better than the stock pads and were a great value for the money. I’ll definitely buy them again.
Pads arrived Wednesday they look well made and a little more thicker. Will be putting them on soon. Just had knee surgery and only ridden a hand full of times. Will let you know how they work out
These pads are fantastic and will definitely buy again. They arrived fast and are super quiet. I was tired of the SRAM squeel and there is no squeel with these. Thanks for a great product
Awesome local business. Great value for really fantastic brake pads! Thanks!

These pads work every bit as good if not better than the ones that have a little sram stamp on them and cost 2-3 times the price. Buy em! they work. Fantastic customer service too, thanks Ian!

I've not noticed any difference between these pads and the stock SRAM pads, other than these are much cheaper. Stopping power and life seem absolutely fine, I'm on my second pair of these pads now. Highly recommended

It’s been a while since I replaced my own brake pads, typically leaving it to my LBS. With Loam Goat, delivery was a snap, pads arrived well packaged and super easy to install. Right from the get go, braking was awesome and responsive.

Communication and customer service was excellent. I've been using the pads for about a month now and they work great.

Very pleased with the personalized service. Arrived quickly and cleanly with a personalized note saying thanks! The Pads are great. Gave them a quick rinse, and a rub under water and they have been great. Totally recommend. Can't beat the value. My stock bike came with Organic Resin and these have improved my stopping power significantly.
