§ 07 · Questions

Answers before you need to ask.

How does shipping work?
Lewis brakes ship in Canada with free shipping on orders $60+. Special order models typically ship in 2-3 weeks.
Which Loam Goat pad comes free with my order?
Add your preferred Loam Goat pad to your cart alongside any Lewis brake set. Brake pads are automatically free at checkout.
How do I know which Lewis fits my bike?
All Lewis brakes use standard post-mount (PM) calipers, compatible with most modern MTB frames and forks. Rotors from 180mm to 223mm supported. Not sure? Email hello@loamgoat.com with your bike model and we'll confirm fitment before you buy.
Can I mix a Lewis caliper with my Shimano or SRAM lever?
No. Lewis brakes are sold as matched front-and-rear sets (caliper, lever, hose, hardware). Mixing hydraulic components across brands causes lever feel and bleed issues, and the warranty won't cover it.
What brake fluid do Lewis brakes use?
Mineral oil, Shimano-compatible. No DOT handling required, no paint damage, no glove paranoia. For the full bleed procedure, Lewis publishes official user manuals and tech guides at lewisbike.com/download-center.html.
Warranty and returns?
3-year manufacturer warranty on all Lewis brakes, handled locally in BC. Unused, sealed items can be returned within 60 days of purchase for a full refund in the original payment form. Customer covers return shipping. No restocking fee. Refunds process 5-7 business days after we receive the return. Installed or bled brake sets cannot be returned (brake fluid contamination cannot be reversed) — if anything's wrong with your set, contact us and we'll make it right under warranty. Full policy at loamgoat.com/policies/refund-policy.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. Shop Pay Installments is available at checkout on eligible orders, which splits your purchase into 4 interest-free payments. Apple Pay and Google Pay also supported.
LH4, AE, LHP+, LHT, AX. Which one should I buy?
LH4 ($469) is the entry point with dual adjustment. AE ($349) is our rider-tested workhorse. LHP+ U4 ($674) adds stainless pistons and floating cooling fins. LHT Ultimate ($739) is the titanium flagship. AX ($810) is the most advanced mono-block caliper. Email us if you want a personal recommendation.
Are Lewis brakes a copy of Trickstuff?
The first Lewis LHT designs drew clear inspiration from the Trickstuff Diretissima, which Pinkbike and NSMB have both noted in reviews. The current lineup (LHP+, AX, AE, LH4) has evolved into distinct architecture. Per Pinkbike's Feb 2024 LHT review: "The Lewis LHT Ultimates are no joke." Lewis delivers comparable stopping power to Trickstuff at roughly half the price, which is why riders are choosing them.
Are Lewis brakes stronger than SRAM Maven?
Both are in the top tier of high-power 4-piston brakes. SRAM Maven is widely considered the current benchmark for raw stopping power. Lewis LHP+ U4 and LHT Ultimate deliver comparable linear power per NSMB's long-term review. The practical difference: Lewis is lighter (597g-639g vs. Maven's ~900g+), uses mineral oil (Shimano-compatible bleed tools), and costs less. Maven has stronger dealer support and brand recognition. For pure on-trail stopping performance, they are close.
Where are Lewis brakes made?
Lewis brakes are designed and manufactured in China. The company operates out of a CNC machining facility producing the entire brake system in-house (calipers, levers, master cylinders, hardware). NSMB noted in their Oct 2025 review: "The machining is beautiful... no unnecessary tool marks anywhere, and the way parts fit with each other is inspiring." Loam Goat imports and stocks Lewis in BC so riders can buy locally without customs.
